Kingfisher- A colourful Indian Bird

Various types of Kingfishers are found in nature.They are beautiful brightly coloured birds found near water bodies. They can be easily seen sitting quietly near pond,lake and river. They are famous for hunting fish but they also feed on crustaceans , frogs and worms.

According to literature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkDmzkFwHeU) mating in kingfisher occurs at onset of monsoon but it was seen much before monsoon in Shivpuri. (10 May 2014)



Kingfisher is territorial in nature and their territory merges on breeding season.
